Domestic violence education

Britain is doing the right thing about teaching the definition of domestic violence at schools. And yes it should start at a very young age. The problem begins at home. Small boys grow up seeing their fathers abuse their mothers and it becomes a learned behaviour. Also women see their mothers adjusting to violence and in later life come to accept it as part of family life. Domestic violence is distasteful to people who never experienced it. But it is sad that many people in the world think that a home cannot exist without domestic violence. For me it is very gross to see a man wanting to hit a woman. In fact hitting children is gross too but the society seem to think its alright. But hitting children brings in the idea that a family member is allowed to physically hurt you and a child must learn to adjust to it. Goes to show how the laws have failed to protect the vulnerable. Yes at a very early age we must learn to say no to violence against ourselves and others. There are civilized ways to settle disputes. We must go to school to become educated not just literate. And perhaps this simple step by Britain schools will reduce wars in the long run. Yes, we jump at every sign of hope because we are very optimistic as a species.
